Lainesmead Primary School and Nursery is a two form entry school with children from 3-11 years of age, situated in Old Walcot. Our children come from a diverse background and this is something we are especially proud of. As a school we have thought hard about the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure the curriculum the children receive is inspiring, enjoyable and reflects the diversity of our school.
Lainesmead is a very special place to go to school. We know this because the children themselves tell us each and every day. In fact, in their own words, it is “Like a big family!” and “Everyone is kind, friendly and supportive.” It is a busy, happy school with an atmosphere which enables the children to be highly engaged in their learning, allowing the children to be the best they can be. Ofsted graded the school as ‘Good’ in June 2014 with them acknowledging the family feel we have within the school: “All staff are proud to be members of the school team. Staff work closely together to plan activities that respond to pupils’ interests, that give them an enthusiasm for learning and that make a strong contribution to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
Lainesmead is part of the national Challenge Partners programme, linked to the North Wiltshire Teaching Alliance Hub based in Royal Wotton Bassett Academy, along with 30 other school in the area. This is a strong, collaborative partnerships of schools working under the Challenge Partners mission of creating “a community of schools where every child benefits from the combined wisdom of the education system.” Furthermore, Lainesmead is part of the Achievement for all programme whose mission statement is: “Transforming lives through improved educational opportunities and outcomes for children and young people vulnerable to underachievement.” This is based on the belief that “that school leaders, teachers, and support teachers can have a profound impact on all children by raising their aspirations and achievements and improving their access to learning...”
We work closely with families and the local community to develop the ethos within the school. We want all children to make a valuable contribution to the life of the school, be it as a ‘Play Leader,’ ‘Prefect,’ ‘Head Boy or Girl’ or any other number of ways the children are given responsibilities across the school. In fact the school’s Mission Statement of “learning together, caring together and achieving together” perfectly sums up this close connection.
We hope that this website will provide you with the information you require and supports you in making the decision that Lainesmead Primary and Nursery is the ideal place to educate your child. Fun was had by all and everyone challenged themselves to try out all activities. We enjoyed wacky races, abseiling, a giant swing, all aboard, the matrix, climbing, archery just to name a few!IoW '17 Albums
